I’ll start my AKG K77 Headphones review by saying I bought these for occasional use, not my every day headphones. I was very attracted to the relatively low sales price and great brand name. I’ve had other AKJ headphones in the past and was always very happy with them. With that in mind I will say that I am very happy with my purchase. If, however, you are looking for a primary set of headphones that sounds amazing, you might want to pass on these for a higher end pair of AKGs.
The sound is very good but there are some issues at the higher and lower ends. Many people might not notice but once you’re used to the high end K701s it kind of jumps out at you. I still use these headphones whenever I’m at my laptop as that’s what I bought them for and I have no real complaints in this area. They are perfect for what I bought them to do, provide good audio at a low price.
One thing that I was very pleasantly surprised about on the K77’s is the comfort. They have very nice ear pads which I could wear for hours on end I think. They are very light weight yet durable. I’ve had them for a few months and since I use them with my laptop I’ve dropped them and sat on them and everything else and have not had any problem with them breaking yet. I like the way they hold on to my head when listening to them without being too tight.
While these are not bad looking headphones I can’t say the look was my favorite part. They look generally like average headphones. They are not ugly but at the same time nobody is going to run out and buy them just for the looks.
